About MASCUSA

The Miniature American Shepherd Club of the USA (MASCUSA) has proudly served as the AKC parent club for the Miniature American Shepherd since 2011. Our breed has a unique history, growing from a split of the Australian Shepherd and bringing together dogs once known as Miniature Australian Shepherds. The club itself has been around since 1990, evolving right alongside the breed we love.

Today, MASCUSA is a welcoming community of Miniature American Shepherd owners, breeders, and fans from across the country and around the world. Whether you’re brand new to the breed or have been involved for years, you’ll find a friendly group of people who share your enthusiasm.

Our mission is simple: to promote, preserve, and protect the Miniature American Shepherd. We support responsible breeding practices, encourage good sportsmanship, and help our members learn, grow, and enjoy their dogs to the fullest. MASCUSA offers educational resources for everyone—from curious newcomers to experienced breeders—and hosts AKC sanctioned events such as conformation, herding, obedience, rally, agility, and tracking.

We also encourage the development of local and regional clubs, helping people connect with others in their area. Whether you’re interested in showing, working, performance sports, or simply celebrating the versatility of the Miniature American Shepherd, there’s a place for you here.

MASCUSA is all about community, learning, and a shared love for this remarkable breed—and we’re excited to welcome new faces into the family.
